The painting is a personal gift from Mr Frederic Herpol to Levensloop Deinze 2025 (Foundation against Cancer). The proceeds go entirely and directly to the Foundation against Cancer. Reality and imagination merge in this surreal painting. A vast mountain landscape unfolds under a soft diffused light, in which the contours of rocks and valleys subtly blend into the sky. In the foreground, transparent faces of women with glasses appear as ethereal portraits floating over nature. The landscape remains visible through their faces, as if their thoughts and emotions merge with the earth itself. The glasses function as symbols of perspective and perception: they do not distort, but deepen the view of reality. The work raises questions about identity, transparency and the way we learn to see the world and ourselves.
