Louise Kerkaert

Veins

Original work (acrylic marker on canvas) by Louise Kerkaert (*2007). 50 x 50 cm. The work depicts oxygen-rich (red) and oxygen-poor (blue) boys. The work is framed with a black frame. Aders visualizes the flow of life in a network of lines and colors. Red and blue are opposite each other, symbolizing oxygen-rich blood (red) and deoxygenated blood (blue). The work focuses on the crucial moment at which oxygen is absorbed into the lungs, but also at the moment where cells use the oxygen-rich blood to continue life. Each little boy symbolizes a red blood cell, which is crucial in its own way for life. Aders invites the viewer to reflect on the continuity and cyclical nature of existence: a constant movement of give and take, a pattern in which absorption and release together form a harmonious balance.
