Very large original work - gallery price: 3,250 - Gaston Bogaerts (19212022) was, in addition to his career as a percussionist with The Chakachas, also active as a visual artist. In his painting he evolved towards a form of geometric abstraction, in which he used simple shapes such as circles, planes and lines to visually translate rhythm and movement. This approach reflected his musical background: composition and repetition play a central role, as if his canvases were visual music. His work is often bright in color, tightly constructed and at the same time playful, where he seeks the balance between structure and spontaneity.
