He gained international recognition through his so-called “transformations”: artworks in which he completely converted exhibition spaces, museums, or galleries into banal, functional places such as a travel agency, driving school, supermarket, hair salon, or casino. At first glance, these spaces appeared real and usable, but were in fact works of art.
